Senior Estimator

The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Indirect Costs Estimator to join our Energy & Resources Bidding Department within Engineering Australia. Reporting functionally to the Bid Services Director and operationally to the Bid Director during bid studies, this role is critical to the success of major Energy, Resources and Infrastructure tenders across Australia.
You will lead the preparation of indirect cost estimates, preliminaries, time related costs, escalation and cash flow modelling for a diverse portfolio of tenders including EPC, Engineering Studies, Priced FEED and Concept Design bids. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will provide leadership to estimating teams, validate estimates using industry benchmarks, and ensure all submissions align with Webuild Group Bid Management procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and reviewing indirect and preliminaries estimates for major bids and tenders
- Developing first principles estimates using industry norms and validated benchmarks
- Overseeing staffing plans, indirect cost models and risk/contingency allowances
- Coordinating closely with Planning, Construction Development, Engineering, Procurement and HR teams
- Reviewing estimates prepared by external consultants, JV partners or third parties
- Supporting tender reviews, estimate presentations, negotiations and post tender queries
- Providing clear market insights on cost, productivity and commercial risk
- Occasionally acting as Chief / Lead Estimator where required
- Supporting handover of successful tenders to delivery teams
- This is a national role within a decentralised team and may require interstate travel to support bid preparation and reviews.
The Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline
- 7–10+ years’ experience in the Energy & Resources industry, including 4+ years in estimating
- Significant experience as a Senior Estimator within EPC or construction contractors
- Strong leadership capability with proven experience mentoring and guiding estimating teams
- Advanced experience in indirect cost estimation, preliminaries and time related costs
- Proficiency in CCS Candy estimating software and advanced Microsoft applications
- Ability to develop top down and first principles estimates aligned to Area Breakdown Structures
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of contracting principles
- Excellent stakeholder management, written and verbal communication skills
- Sound organisation and time management skills, including working across remote teams
- Solid understanding of industry legislation, codes and best practices
- Experience across Energy, Resources and Infrastructure projects within Australian conditions is highly desirable.
