We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Environment & Sustainability Advisor to join the K2 project team in Kwinana! In this role, you will effectively provide senior environment and sustainability advisory support for the K2 Project, ensuring environmental compliance and sustainability commitments are implemented, monitored and verified in accordance with statutory, contractual and project requirements.

 

Clough is delivering the design and construction of the Kwinana Gas Power Generation 2 project (K2), a new 220 MW gas fired power station to be built in Kwinana, south of Perth. K2 will deliver fast start, flexible generation to provide critical backup capacity that supports the increasing application of renewable energy across Western Australia.

Your focus will include:

 

  • Lead site‑based implementation of environmental management plans, permits and approvals across construction, pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Provide senior guidance on environmental risk identification, mitigation and compliance for high‑risk activities including earthworks, dewatering, waste management, spill control and emissions.
  • Conduct and lead environmental inspections, audits and assurance activities to verify compliance with approvals, licences and project procedures.
  • Act as the primary site interface with environmental regulators and the Principal on environmental and sustainability matters, inspections and reporting.
  • Lead investigation of environmental incidents, non‑conformances and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis, corrective actions and close‑out are completed.
  • Monitor and report environmental performance, sustainability metrics and compliance status to project leadership.

 

What you will bring to the team:

 

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or equivalent Tertiary qualification
  • Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in environmental or sustainability roles on major EPC or D&C projects, including senior site‑based responsibility in construction and commissioning environments
  • Hands-on experience navigating complex regulatory pathways (e.g., Environmental Impact Statements, Development Assessments).
  • Field proficiency in managing Environmental Management Systems (EMS), incident investigations, and environmental monitoring databases.  
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate, influence, and communicate effectively across all levels of staff, contractors, and government regulators.
