We have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Manager to join the Women and Babies Hospital project team in Perth! In this role, you will be accountable for the day-to-day health and safety assurance and governance activities to ensure construction activities are maintaining a healthy and safe working environment across the project.

WeBuild is delivering the design and construction of the Women and Babies Hospital in Perth, Western Australia. This landmark project will replace the century-old King Edward Memorial Hospital and expand services and choice for women, newborns and families, delivering lasting benefits and a positive legacy for the people of Western Australia.

Your focus will include:

 

  • Provide Health & Safety (HS) direction and leadership to the broader team; create a work environment that inspires exceptional team performance and behaviours that are aligned with the business values.
  • Lead and manage the implementation of HS strategies, procedures, systems and initiatives across the project and report progress to project leadership teams.
  • Provide technical direction and support the project leadership team to develop and implement an effective culture that is focused on HS. 
  • Manage and ensure the effectiveness of project HS support resources to internal stakeholders including the project leadership team, employees, contractors, clients, and visitors.
  • Ensure the project understand and have the support and tools to meet their HS regulatory, legal and company obligations.
  • Set up project HS audit schedule and ensure the audit program is fully implemented with outcomes closed out in a timely manner.
  • Drive continuous HS improvement initiatives and programs.

 

What you will bring to the team:

 

  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in Health and Safety, Environment and/or other associated discipline
  • HSE Practitioner (10+ years) in Construction and/or heavy industry and high risk workplaces, building, engineering or other associated functional areas
  • Experience working on large scale construction projects or other suitable projects works
  • Demonstrated ability to build sound working relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to translate risk and compliance into clear actions
  • A committed leader with a proactive approach to site safety processes and practices
