For the Milan headquarter, Webuild is looking for a Design Services Specialist for the Bridges & Structures department in the Engineering division.

The Design Services function has the task of guaranteeing the quality and efficiency of the design contents during the tender study phase and during the development phase of the executive design on the job order; it prepares and proposes new concept designs and value engineering during the tender phase and after the job order has been acquired; it deals with solving the design and methodological/constructive problems of greater importance and complexity present within the job orders at a global level.

Main responsibilities
As part of the specialist work team, the new resource will be involved in various activities within the design of large national and international projects, mainly infrastructural ones. In particular, he/she will be responsible for:

• Study of tender documentation for the purpose of identifying technical specifications and areas of specialist expertise relating to the design and development of technical solutions;
• Detection and analysis of any criticalities in the design development with the aim of identifying corrective actions and technical solutions to be applied to the work, in collaboration with the other functions concerned. Identification of continuous improvement actions in order to progressively increase the know-how acquired during the study of the various projects;
• Study of alternative design solutions through the use of value engineering methodologies, verifying the choices in collaboration with the other functions involved, in order to improve the solutions in terms of cost, safety and completion times for both projects in the tender phase and those already under development under contract;
• Development of structural FEM models, verification calculations and reporting;
• Support activities for the order in the start-up and execution phases through: specialist technical assistance, verification and improvement of engineering and methodological solutions, identification and development of alternative and value engineering solutions, detailed optimisation studies and conformity assessment of structural design;
• Activities to support the order in resolving design and field construction issues detected during the construction phase.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structures curriculum;
• Previous experience of 1-4 years (preferably in engineering firms/companies);
• Knowledge of one or more national/international construction standards;
• Ability to interpret technical documents with particular attention to technical/constructive requirements;
• Computer skills: Office package (in particular Excel), knowledge of at least one structural analysis software (e.g. SAP2000, Midas...), knowledge of soil-structure interaction calculation software or geotechnical FEM (Bulkheads, Plaxis...) is welcome;
• Good knowledge of the English language.
