Junior Structural Engineer (Stage)

For its Milan office, Webuild is looking for a recent graduate in Civil Engineering with a curriculum in Structures to be employed as a Design Services - Bridges & Structures Intern in the Engineering division.

The extracurricular internship is a 6-month training period that includes an expense reimbursement of €800 and access to the company canteen. With positive evaluation, the internship is aimed at employment in the project office; availability to relocate is therefore required.

The Design Services - Bridges & Structures function has the task of guaranteeing the quality and efficiency of the design contents in the tender study phase and in the development phase of the executive design on the job order; it prepares and proposes new concepts and value engineering in the tender phase and after the job order has been acquired; it deals with solving the design and methodological/constructive problems of greater importance and complexity present within the job orders at a global level.

Main Design Services' department activities

• Under the supervision of the department manager and the company tutor, you will be involved in the following activities
• Study of tender documentation for the purpose of identifying technical specifications and areas of specialist expertise relating to the design and development of technical solutions;
• Detection and analysis of any criticalities in the design development with the aim of identifying corrective actions and technical solutions to be applied to the work;
• Study of alternative design solutions through the use of Value Engineering methodologies in order to increase the competitiveness of the offer in the tender phase and to improve the project result in terms of cost and construction time;
• Support activities in the development of virtual models and technical drawings, transferring detailed information to the competent function;
• Activities of defining the technical specifications for the tender request and technical alignment of the tenders, for the specialised areas;
• Support activities to the job order in the start-up and execution phases, relating to: technical assistance to the job order, verification of engineering and methodological solutions, identification and development of alternative and Value Engineering solutions, assistance and coordination of specialised technical activities;
• Activities to support the job order in the resolution of any design-related problems detected during the executive phase of construction.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structures curriculum;
• Willingness to transfer to the job order office after the 6-month internship period;
• No or minimum experience (experience in engineering studies welcome);
• Computer skills: Office package (especially Excel), knowledge of at least one structural analysis software (e.g. SAP2000, Midas...);
• Ability to interpret technical documents with particular attention to technical-constructive requirements;
• Good knowledge of the English language; fluency in Italian (min. B2) is mandatory.
