The joint venture combines experienced local personnel with global resources and expertise.

 

Terra Verde is delivering nearly 10 kilometres of parallel tunnels between Glen Waverley and Box Hill, including 39 cross passages and two station boxes at Glen Waverley and Burwood in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, as part of the Suburban Rail Loop Project.

 

This is the largest infrastructure project in Victoria’s history, shaping Melbourne and Victoria for future generations.

 

About the opportunity:

 

Terra Verde is currently seeking applications from Site Engineers to be part of our TBM team based in Burwood. This is an excellent opportunity to start your career in tunnelling and join an established team that is passionate about helping you develop your skillset.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs and specification
  • Review and understanding of ground conditions for tunnelling operations including rock and soil types and effect on safe operations
  • Knowledge of tunnel underground construction practices
  • Assist with the preparation of site construction budgets and reports
  • Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme and report to the Project Manager
  • Interpret designs for implementation in construction projects
  • Contribute to improvements to existing designs
  • Arrange and oversee the letting of tenders
  • Demonstrate financial management skills and commercial acumen when making decisions
  • Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards
  • Execute working knowledge of contractual and legislation relevant to the Project
  • Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes
  • Analyse and use document and record management, progress and project performance reporting compliance reporting
  • Demonstrate stakeholder management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Science, Building Construction, Construction Management or equivalent 
  • Engineering experience  
  • Wide level of planning, development and review of projects 
  • Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects 
  • Advanced skills in relevant computer software packages; Microsoft Suite etc 
  • Written, verbal and presentation skills e.g. facilitating meetings, pre starts and tool box meetings and basic cost control skills 

 

Please be advised that this project is a large scale T1 project with potential for 24/7 shift work, whilst we will aim for weekend work to be split fairly between employees there may be role requirements on occasion for evening shift work.
