The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. 

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role:

The Water Management Specialist is accountable for the day-to-day compliance assurance of site-based water management activities, coordination of Environmental water sampling requirements, and providing site support to ensure that FGJV adheres to the Environmental Management System regarding water, in accordance with the approved Environmental Protection License #21266, Conditions of Consent, Environmental Management Strategy and associated Environmental Management Plans and client specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary Environmental Management Qualifications or related discipline;
  • Drivers License;
  • White Card

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 year experience working in the Construction Industry in a similar role – preferred
  • Building strong working relationships with construction personnel, client and stakeholder representatives to achieve sound environmental outcomes

Required Competencies:

  • Sound decision making abilities in line with environmental approval and management system requirements.
  • Genuine commitment and proactive approach to water management and procedures.
  • Effective analytical and data collation skills.
  • Confident decision-making ability.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft suite.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets and can prioritise tasks under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills.

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and support to the dewatering and construction team(s) to ensure compliance with statutory, FGJV and client Environmental obligations.
  • Communication of Environmental issues, standards, and procedures regarding management of surface water, groundwater, and water to be discharged to reservoirs.
  • Coordination of the Environmental water sampling across all sites and associated reporting.
  • Collate and have critical review of analytical data to be used for the client and other stakeholders.
  • Implementation of Environmental Management Strategy, EMPs and subsidiary systems documentation.
  • Promote a dynamic and positive Environmental culture focused on achieving success.
  • Liaise with the area Environment Team to ensure they are aware of arising issues, requirements, and controls.
  • Ensure representation is maintained at key construction planning and coordination meetings.
  • Assist in identifying training requirements.
  • Undertake additional tasks, as directed by the Environmental Management team, to support FGJV’s Project HSSE goals and values.
