The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. 

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role:

Senior Engineer who will cover the requirement of managing the temporary works for Snowy 2.0 project. Senior Engineer is expected to design and implement temporary works.

The role is required to be in 5:2 roster and site based.

Working closely with Temporary Works Coordinator and Technical Office Engineers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering
  • Professional Chartered Engineer (CPEng) credentials (or working towards it) - preferred
  • White Card

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 year experience in Temporary work engineering design and/or management
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in civil engineering, infrastructure and/or building structures
  • Experience working in large scale projects is a plus
  • Knowledgeable with BS 5975 (Code of Practice for Temporary Works)
  • Intensive knowledge about Temporary Works Procedure
  • Experience in design and implementation of temporary works
  • Tunneling works experience is a plus
  • Experience in design and implementation of temporary works
  • Tunneling works experience is a plus

 

Required Competencies:  

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, including designing for functionality, safety, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Advanced knowledge of general construction methodologies and risk assessment on all levels
  • Safety and Quality oriented – High attention to detail?
  • Knowledgeable in risk assessment in all levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD, GLAASS and Aconex
  • Exceptional knowledge and ability in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

 

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist the Temporary Works Coordinator and Technical Office Engineers
  • Facilitate workshops on safety in design and temporary works management awareness.
  • Ensure the compliance of all captured temporary works with the temporary works procedure.
  • Review and approve of temporary works design briefs.
  • Coordinate for temporary works design development.
  • Inspect temporary works structures.
  • Issue approval for the erecting and dismantling of temporary works.
  • Plan, manage and successully deliver complex structrural engineering projects
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and exceed client's expectations on a consistent basis 
  • Keep abreast of advancing technologies, methods and research & development. 
  • Assume responsibility for planning and managing small projects or parts of larger projects
  • Assist with the design of temporary/permanent structural systems - You will also be involved with internal peer review of technical deliverables on a consistant basis. 
  • Provide safety leadership in identifying and alleviating/eliminating high priority safety hazards. This will be predominantly while carrying our reviews of Safety in Design or during the peer review process while considering construction activities. 
  • Participate in training activities, mentoring and transferring knowledge to other engineers
