The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. 

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role

This position is responsible for ensuring the implementation of FGJV WHS systems and processes throughout all project activities, and to support and mentor work crews and project teams in delivering safe construction outcomes. Site Safety Advisors are expected to work largely in the field, monitoring and supporting construction activities to enable the provision of a healthy and safe working environment for all personnel.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Certificate IV – Workplace Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Construction Induction Card
  • Drivers Licence
  • White Card

Desirable

  • ICAM
  • Internal Auditing
  • Training and Assessing

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in construction and or tunnelling Safety roles

Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience on large-scale major infrastructure projects
  • Safety management tools and techniques
  • Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls
  • Demonstrable understanding of construction delivery techniques and high-risk construction activities
  • Client liaison
  • Regulator engagement experience
  • Industrial relations knowledge and experience
  • Safety management experience on large-scale construction projects
  • Knowledge of and experience in underground excavation techniques (drill and blast, sequential excavation method, TBM)
  • Familiar with managing OFSC system compliance

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply of relevant WHS Legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards.
  • Complete audits and risk assessments.
  • Provide advice and support to the construction management team to ensure compliance with statutory, FGJV and Client Safety obligations.
  • Implement Safety plans and subsidiary systems documentation.
  • Communicate Safety issues and standards.
  • Undertake, and participate in relevant safety governance activities as identified within the Area Safety Activity Schedule, including but not limited to:
    • Safety Compliance Audits
    • Workplace Inspections
    • System data input.
    • Emergency Drills and Exercises.
  • Collect completed FGJV lead indicator tools.
  • Ensure personal KPI requirements are met.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported, internally and externally, and event investigations are properly conducted, recorded and information closed out in accordance with FGJV HSSE Management System and Client timeframes.
  • Develop and submit scheduled reporting and analysis of performance trends. when required.
  • Conduct training and competency assessments, including onboarding and inductions.
  • Promote a dynamic and positive Safety culture focused on executing properly planned and managed construction activities.
  • Contribute to Safety performance for the project, providing coverage across both day and night shift as rostered.
  • Ensure all position deliverables are completed on time and to a high level of quality.
  • Support the Operations Safety Managers as and when required.
