The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.
Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.
Job Overview:
The Plant & Equipment Director will oversee the management and operation of all plant and equipment related to the Snowy Hydro project. This critical role involves ensuring the efficient maintenance and operation of assets, transport logistics, and overseeing the pre-cast operations at the Polo Flat site. The Plant & Equipment Director will work closely with the Deputy Project Director to ensure the successful execution of project activities and will be accountable for delivering the project objectives on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Extensive experience in plant and equipment management, preferably in large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Proven leadership experience with a focus on team development, safety, and operational excellence.
- Strong understanding of the project requirements, including asset management, logistics, and compliance with COR regulations.
- Relevant qualifications in project management, engineering, or related fields.
- In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards in the construction and infrastructure sector.
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with budget management and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plant & Equipment Management:
- Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and operation of all plant and equipment on-site.
- Ensure that all equipment is safe, operational, and compliant with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Develop and implement equipment maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency.
- Polo Flat Precast Operations:
- Manage and oversee the Precast operations at the Polo Flat site, ensuring smooth production and logistics.
- Ensure that the precast processes are aligned with project timelines, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Assets Maintenance:
- Manage the maintenance of all project assets, including equipment, vehicles, and machinery.
- Develop a proactive maintenance plan and ensure its execution, tracking asset performance, and identifying areas for improvement.
- Implement procedures to extend the lifecycle of assets and optimize their usage.
- Transport and Logistics (COR):
- Oversee the transportation and logistics operations, ensuring materials, equipment, and personnel are efficiently moved across the project site.
- Ensure compliance with the Chain of Responsibility (COR) regulations, focusing on safe and legal transport practices.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to project sites.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Foster a culture of safety and ensure all team members are properly trained and adhere to safety protocols.
- Budgeting and Reporting:
- Develop and manage the plant and equipment budget.
- Monitor and report on financial performance, ensuring costs are controlled, and the project remains on track.
- Prepare and present regular reports to the Deputy Project Director on progress, issues, and performance metrics.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the plant and equipment team, ensuring they have the necessary skills, resources, and training.
- Collaborate with other departments, contractors, and external partners to ensure project objectives are met.
- Be the point of contact/interface with the client for matters related to his department.
