The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. 

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role:

The purpose of the Instrumentation Monitoring role is to ensure safe and effective management of the selection, installation, calibration, commissioning, and monitoring survey of geotechnical instrumentation.  

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary Qualifications or related discipline such as, Engineer Geologist, geotechnical Engineer, Geologist.
  • White Card

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the Construction Industry in a similar role – preferred
  • Experience working on large scale construction projects or other suitable projects works
  • Experience in Geotechnical instrumentation installation, monitoring survey, data analysis and interpretation.

 

Required Competencies:

  • Self-motivated individual capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent safety awareness with good housekeeping habits.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to carry out work instructions and directives to provide satisfactory outcomes.
  • Ability to work within a team environment to achieve desired results
  • Technical competencies in Monitoring Geoscience and monitoring management

 

 

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Method statement and Work safety method statement regarding installation of Geotechnical instruments: Inclinometer, Piezometer, Extensometer, Load cells, Strain gauges, Survey target, Tilt meter, crack meters, settlement gauges, data loggers.
  • Planning installation of the Instruments
  • Preparation of control process
  • Instrumentation installation (Extensometer, Piezometer, Load cells, Strain gauges, Rock Bolt Load Cell, Crack meter, Joint Meters, Inclinometer, 3D survey target etc) along with relative ancillary structures
  • Instruct work force in delivery a project against safety, quality, regulatory, legislative, environmental, safety and cost requirements
  • Installation, configuration and data download of data logger, connections, link with cloud data management software to receive in real time the instrument data survey collected at site. Instrument survey with Portable data logger.
  • Daily monitoring of sensor outputs, data validation and process operation.
  • Ensuring instrumentation operation complies with quality parameters
  • Carrying out routine/planned maintenance
  • Troubleshooting any issues or concerns
  • Training production staff if required
