The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. 

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role:

The Environmental Engineer - Spoil Management is responsible for developing and implementing environmentally sustainable spoil management strategies, ensuring compliance with regulations and minimising ecological impact.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineering license (PE) is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in spoil management or related environmental roles.
  • Familiarity with local and international environmental regulations.
  • Unrestricted Driver’s Licence
  • White Card

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in environmental engineering, spoil management or related roles, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and implementing spoil management plans.
  • Proficiency in conducting environmental impact assessments.

Required Competencies:

 

  • In-depth knowledge of spoil management practices, including excavation, transportation and disposal.
  • Understanding of environmental regulations and standards related to spoil management in construction.
  • Proficiency in coordinating spoil management activities within the overall construction project.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying spoil management plans and requirements to construction teams, stakeholders and environmental authorities.
  • Ability to promptly identify and address challenges related to spoil management.
  • Sound decision-making skills to ensure compliant and environmentally sustainable spoil management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, construction crews and environmental teams.
  • Sound negotiation and problem-solving skills

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and implement spoil management plans, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and project specifications.
  • Ensure that spoil disposal activities adhere to environmental regulations and minimise impact on ecosystems.
  • Collaborate with project managers, construction crews and environmental teams to coordinate spoil management activities within the construction project.
  • Effectively communicate spoil management plans and requirements to construction teams, stakeholders and environmental authorities.
  • Address challenges related to spoil management, providing effective and sustainable solutions.
  • Provide support in decision-making processes to optimise spoil management strategies.
  • Assist in supporting construction crews in the implementation of spoil management plans, including training and awareness programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of spoil management activities, environmental impact assessments and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in spoil management practices.
