The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. 

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role

This position is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day coordination of site-based safety advisors and system governance activities to support the Site Leadership Team in delivering safe construction outcomes. The Site Safety Coordinator is to ensure that FGJV WHS systems and processes are implemented for all construction activities to enable the provision of a healthy and safe working environment for all personnel. The Site Safety Coordinator will act as the point of contact in the absence of the Site Safety Manager within the confines of the delegated authority.

Essential

  • Diploma – Work Health & Safety or equivalent
  • Construction Induction Card
  • Drivers Licence
  • Incident Investigation Training
  • White Card

Desirable

  • ICAM
  • Internal Auditing
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

 

 

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience working in construction and or tunnelling senior safety roles
  • Leading and managing direct reports

Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience on large-scale major infrastructure projects
  • Safety management tools and techniques
  • Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls
  • Demonstratable understanding of construction delivery techniques and high-risk construction activities
  • Client liaison
  • Regulator engagement experience
  • Industrial relations knowledge and experience
  • Safety management experience on large-scale construction projects
  • Knowledge of and experience in underground excavation techniques (drill and blast, sequential excavation method, TBM)
  • Familiar with managing OFSC system compliance

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply relevant WHS Legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards.
  • Complete audits and risk assessments.
  • Provide advice and support to the construction management team to ensure compliance with statutory, FGJV and Client Safety obligations.
  • Implement Safety plans and subsidiary systems documentation.
  • Communicate Safety issues and standards.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Area Safety Activity Schedule.
  • Coordinate implementation of the Area Safety Activity Schedule and initiatives, including but not necessarily limited to
    • Safety Compliance Audits
    • Workplace Inspections
    • System data input and interpretation
    • Emergency Drills and Exercises.
  • Coordinate the area Safety team to ensure there are appropriate resources available resourced to meet the obligations of the Safety Activity Schedule and construction program.
  • Assist in identifying and delivering Safety training requirements.
  • Analyse and report FGJV lead and lag targets to Project Management.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported, internally and externally, and event investigations are properly conducted, recorded and information closed out in accordance with FGJV HSSE Management System and Client timeframes.
  • Promote a dynamic and positive Safety culture focused on executing properly planned and managed construction activities.
  • Ensure that personal KPI requirements are met, as well as those of direct reports.
  • Manage, coach and mentor Site Safety Advisors.
  • Ensure HSE representation is maintained at key construction planning and coordination meetings.
  • Ensure all position deliverables are completed on time and to a high level of quality.
  • Support the Operations Safety Managers as and when required.
