The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. 

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role:

The Claims Lead will provide support to the Project Commercial Director across all upstream Claims and related matters on the Snowy 2.0 Project, including the identification, preparation, co-ordination, and response to both the issued and received communications pertaining to the Claims. This includes providing support in the form of preparing particulars and follow up alongside the legal team through various dispute resolution mechanisms like DAAB and Arbitration

Qualifications:

  • Recognised tertiary qualifications within a relevant field (Engineering, Commerce, Law or equivalent)
  • White Card

Experience:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction risk, contract terms and conditions and the commercial and legal issues impacting the delivery of projects
  • Sound understanding of Contract Law
  • Demonstrable experience in the preparation, drafting, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of various types of design and construction claims
  • Solid experience working in commercial roles within infrastructure development projects

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Overall manage the preparation and submission of Claims through the Claims Team
  • Co-ordinate with the project delivery team to identify potential claims
  • Undertake analysis of contractual terms and conditions, ensuring that FGJV’s risk are minimised
  • Drafting of correspondence in respect of Claims, including liaison with and input from stakeholders
  • Compilation of Claims including supporting documents/particulars for formal submission to the Client and its regular follow up until its resolution
  • Undertake executive presentations of basis of claims, entitlements and strengths
  • Manage the negotiations relevant to claims
  • Set-up claim strategy best suited for maximizing entitlement and minimizing risks for FGJV
  • Assist the Commercial Team with general contract administration matters as and when required
