Advisor - Health & Safety Training

The primary purpose of the role is to create and deliver comprehensive HSE Management Systems training programs that cover a wide range of topics, including hazard identification, risk assessment, emergency procedures, and specific industry regulations. The development of training program associated with high-risk construction works (HRCW) system standards as outlined in the HSE Management System.

The role is not engaged to deliver HRCW training elements as required under legislation, but to focus on front line supervision elements associated with HRCW HSE System Standards and associated requirements.

Collaborate with the Training Team as required to ensure HSE Management System Requirements are captured within the Project TNA and records of training are provided.

As directed, oversee the creation and implementation of change initiatives, improvements, tailored training, and programs that support the continuous enhancement of health and safety system knowledge within the operations environment.

As needed, provide site-based safety team support to cover absences or leave periods of site-based safety resources.

Qualifications & Experience

• Formal OHS Qualifications (e.g Diploma of OHS)
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the Construction Industry.
• Certificate IV Training & Assessment

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Develop focussed HSE Management System training packages aligned to key high risk procedures, focussed on the system requirements to ensure compliance.
• Look towards the use of adaptive learning technology to support learning objectives.
• Implementation of Safety programs, plans and subsidiary systems documentation in support of the HSE Management System Improvement Initiatives;
• Communication of Safety issues / standards;
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the HSSE Activity Schedule;
• Coordinate, and contribute to, the implementation of the HSSE Activity Schedule and initiatives, including but not necessarily limited to:

• Compliance Audits.
• Workplace Inspections.
• Emergency Drills and Exercises.

• Assist in identifying gaps in safety systems and processes, and where focused HSE Management System elements for front line training need to be updated and communicated.
• Develop safety excellence solutions to enhance the efficiency of the safety function
• Coach and mentor HSE Advisors and Site Supervision on the HSE Management System elements and criteria;
• Undertake additional tasks, as directed by the Operations Safety Manager, to support FGJV’s Project HSSE goals and values.
