The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. 

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role

The Contaminated Land - Advisor is accountable for the day-to-day assurance of site based spoil management activities and construction team support to ensure that FGJV maintains a robust Environmental Management System regarding spoil, in accordance with the approved Environmental Protection License #21266, Conditions of Consent Environmental Management Strategy and Environmental Management Plans and client specifications.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental, or a related field
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card) - mandatory
  • Australian Drivers Licence - mandatory

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a construction or consultancy environment, or similar
  • Experience working on large scale construction projects or other suitable project works - preferred

Required Competencies

  • Sound decision making abilities in line with environmental approval and management system requirements
  • Genuine commitment and proactive approach to spoil management and procedures
  • Effective analytical and written skills are required for this position.
  • Confident decision-making ability
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft suite.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance to the construction and environmental teams regarding spoil and contaminated land issues
  • Reviewing and synthesising laboratory data
  • Reporting writing including monthly progress reports and environmental management plans
  • Provide advice and support to the construction management team(s) to ensure compliance with statutory, FGJV and client Environmental obligations
  • Assist in environmental audits and initiatives related to spoil including, Workplace Environmental Inspections and Internal, SHL & External Environmental Audits
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFI) from the regulator and client
  • Ensuring regulatory and contractual compliance
  • Assist approval team in liaising with clients and regulatory bodies to secure necessary approvals

Core Accountabilities

  • Ensure that spoil and contaminated land activities are undertaken in accordance with legislative and contractual requirements
  • Provide spoil and contaminated land related information to senior management
  • Identify opportunities for streamlined spoil management and general cost savings
