About the Role
Based in Templeton, Christchurch and reporting to the QSSHE Director, the Quality and Systems Manager will provide leadership across project quality assurance and quality control functions, while overseeing the work of a QA/QC Inspector.
You will be responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining the project's Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with contractual, client and regulatory requirements. Working closely with project leadership, construction teams and consortium partners, you will drive quality performance, continuous improvement and transparent reporting throughout project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of the Project Quality Management System.
- Act as the primary contact for the Principal on project quality matters.
- Develop and deliver quality induction and training programmes across the workforce.
- Coordinate with construction teams to develop and implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Ensure quality records and documentation are maintained in accordance with project requirements and management systems.
- Monitor project quality performance, KPIs, NCRs, defects and corrective actions.
- Lead root cause investigations and oversee non-conformance management and close-out processes.
- Develop and maintain project quality dashboards and reporting frameworks.
- Monitor changes to legislative, regulatory and project quality requirements and communicate impacts to the project team.
- Collaborate across engineering, construction, safety and project management disciplines to ensure quality outcomes are integrated into project delivery.
- Provide regular reporting and strategic quality advice to senior leadership and consortium partners.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and system enhancements across project operations.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a proactive quality leader with significant experience managing quality systems on large-scale construction, infrastructure or engineering projects.
You will be highly organised, solutions-focused and confident building strong relationships across client, contractor and project stakeholder groups.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management or a related discipline.
- Professional certification such as ISO Lead Auditor, Six Sigma or equivalent will be highly regarded.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in quality management, preferably within construction, infrastructure or engineering environments.
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and managing quality management systems.
- Strong understanding of inspection and testing processes, quality assurance and quality control requirements.
- Experience managing NCRs, corrective actions and continuous improvement programmes.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and reporting skills.
- Experience using quality management and document management systems.
- Proven leadership capability with experience mentoring and developing quality personnel.
