Project Overview
This role supports one of New Zealand’s most significant and technically complex vertical infrastructure developments. The project is a large-scale, secure operational facility being delivered through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) and joint venture model, bringing together some of the country’s most experienced construction, engineering and service delivery organisations.
Designed to operate around the clock once complete, the facility incorporates high-security environments, complex building systems, and long-term asset management requirements. The project environment is fast-paced, highly collaborative and governance-led, with strong interface management across public and private sector stakeholders.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a capable and detail-oriented Procurement Subcontracts Expert to support the delivery of this nationally significant infrastructure project.
This role plays a key part in the end-to-end sourcing and procurement of goods and services, ensuring best-for-project outcomes through robust market engagement, tender management, and supplier coordination. You will work closely with the Procurement Manager and wider project teams to drive value, reduce risk, and support successful project delivery.
Supply Chain Manager
Reporting to the Procurement Subcontracts Manager, the Procurement Subcontracts Expert is responsible for executing procurement activities across assigned packages, from market engagement through to contract award and supplier management.
This role is integral to maintaining procurement schedules, supporting sourcing strategies, and ensuring compliance with project governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure goods and services for project requirements
- Conduct market analysis and supplier engagement to identify best value solutions
- Prepare and issue RFQs/RFPs and manage tender processes
- Evaluate bids (technical and commercial) and develop recommendations
- Support contract negotiation and purchase order finalisation
- Maintain procurement schedules and ensure alignment with project timelines
- Build and manage strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Monitor procurement budgets and ensure approvals are in place
- Expedite supplier deliveries to meet project deadlines
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Support the development of sourcing strategies alongside Procurement leadership
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation and reporting
About You
You are a proactive procurement professional with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
You bring:
- Experience in procurement or contract administration within construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to assess commercial and technical submissions
- Confidence in supplier engagement and negotiation
- Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, construction, and commercial teams
- A structured, process-driven approach with a focus on accuracy and delivery
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Procurement or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 8+ years’ experience in procurement within construction or infrastructure projects
- Experience in end-to-end procurement processes and contract administration
- Familiarity with procurement systems (e.g. SAP) and reporting tools
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, services, and supplier markets
- Solid negotiation, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- High attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills
