The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. 

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role

The Draftsperson is responsible for producing accurate and detailed technical drawings for civil structures and systems on the Snowy 2.0 Project, ensuring compliance with design specifications and standards This role also supports the preparation of shop drawings and assists in identifying potential design or construction issues to support Project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in drafting, civil engineering, or related field
  • White Card

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in civil drafting, preferably in large-scale infrastructure or hydro projects within multidisciplinary teams

Required Competencies

  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD and BIM tools, such as Revit, Revizto, Tekla or Navisworks
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings from various disciplines
  • Familiarity with drawing standards (e.g., AS1100 or ISO equivalents)
  • Good understanding of civil construction methods and terminology
  • Basic understanding of BIM workflows
  • Ability to read and interpret geotechnical and survey data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for liaising with engineers and site teams
  • Well-developed time management skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to Project needs
  • Effective problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to prioritise tasks under pressure and consistently deliver quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail
  • Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed construction drawings for civil works (e.g., dams, tunnels, intake structures) based on structural/civil design and calculations.
  • Update and revise drawings based on markups and instructions.
  • Interpret engineering sketches and specifications.
  • Maintain drawing logs, ensure proper filing, and archive drawings in line with document management and version- control procedures.
  • Coordinate with engineers and the senior draftsperson to resolve drawing-related issues.
  • Ensure drawings are aligned with Project standards and revisions are tracked.
  • Support document control and drawing submission processes.
  • Conduct basic quantity take-offs and verify and adjust bar lists from drawings.
  • Participate in design review meetings and incorporate feedback.
  • Support environmental and safety compliance through accurate representation of site constraints.
  • Identify and communicate design or construction clashes.
