Webuild is looking for a Senior Design Engineer dedicated to Roads & Tunnels to join the Technical team in the Sotralink Consortium participated by the Company.

The project, located in Bergen (Norway) includes the design, construction, financing and management under concession of a road network that includes 9 kilometres of highways and a suspension bridge.


Core accountabilities and main responsibilities assigned to the Senior Design Engineer - Roads & Tunnels are:


  • Assist the Construction Manager of Roads & Tunnels, in the development of the engineering solutions, procedures and methodologies of the works, in compliance with the contractual requirements and the HSE and Quality standards.
  • Provide support for design methodology to be imparted to the designer and define the content of the technical documents to be transferred to the Production Manager for the production activities and the control of the works.
  • Implement the Quality/HSE system requirements in design, guaranteeing the lowest environmental impact and embedding interfaces with existing utilities and rail/road traffic infrastructures.
  • Review the design documents issued by the designers, in particular 3D BIM models to determine possible deviation from the tender design and any optimization to be applied. In cooperation with the BIM Manager.
  • Maintain constantly updated the Design Changes Master file in relation to Roads, Tunnels and Utilities, keeping under control the quantity changes from the tender submission.
  • Provide support to the Road Coordinator and to the Tunnel Coordinator, for the development of the methods statements in collaboration with the Road & Tunnels Construction manager.
  • Coordinate and lead the technical meeting and the ICE meeting with the roads/utility designers and with the tunnels’ designers.
  • Supervise and control the Design Delivery Schedule, to be consistent and compliant with the Construction Schedule in coordination with the Planning Manager.
  • Supervise the activities of the third-party checkers, and the interaction between them and the Designers
  • Propose improvements, modifications, or variations to the design, preparing the technical documentation to send to the client by the Project Manager for the approval.
  • Supervise the preparation and record of technical site documentation required by work execution..
  • Cooperate with the Quality Manager and the Production Manager in the proposal of eventual corrective action to eliminate non-conformities during the construction phase.
  • Support the Procurement Manager during the preparation of the purchasing request, verifying and validating the technical requirements proposed by the Production Manager.




  • At least 10 years of professional experience in the Construction industry, 3 years in a similar position;
  • Experience working on large scale construction projects or other suitable projects works
  • MS Degree in Engineering;
  • Fluent English; knowledge of Norwegian Language would be a plus.
  • Capable of relating with other functions, negotiating and managing relations;
  • Capable of working under stress and in fast-paced work environment;
  • Precise, organized, reliable, offering high-quality work;
  • Able to organize coordination and management supervision of third parties possibly involved in technical activities.
